How to Practise NoFap During Lockdown: 5 Effective Steps

Practicing NoFap is tough. In lockdown, it is even tougher. In this article, I’m gonna explain 5 effective steps to practice NoFap during the lockdown.

Going out, socializing, and creating a loving and happy environment around you is a key step while practicing NoFap. However, during lockdown, it is not possible to go out and socialize.

There are many other things you can’t do during lockdown which you used to during “normal” times.

You might have returned to work, or working from home or not working at all and are trapped in your house. This is a difficult situation to practice NoFap.

1) Spend Some Time Outside

Whether if you’ve returned to work, working from home(WFH), or not working at all, you need to spend some time outside your home. It could be going for a walk near your home or just sitting in your garden or a park.

Even if you’ve returned to work, chances are you are going straight to your workplace and returning right back to your home.

Make a habit of getting at least 15 minutes of sunlight daily. Sunlight releases a chemical in our body known as oxytocin which is responsible for making us feel happy.

Being trapped in your house and spending too much time inside your house will make you sad and depressed and it will increase your chances of relapsing.

Make a habit of being outside your home for at least 30 minutes a day even if it is just for a walk near your home or sitting in your garden or a park.

2) Stay Connected With your Friends

You can’t meet your friends during lockdown but you can be in touch with them through phone.

Talking to someone we love and care about makes us happy and give us a sense of belonging.

Being trapped in your house without talking to anyone will most likely make you sad, lonely, and depressed. Whenever we feel those negative emotions/feelings, we tend to combat them with porn and masturbation.

Porn and masturbation are just a way to hide your negative emotions. People who are porn addicts try to combat their negative emotions with porn and masturbation instead of facing them.

Whenever we feel sad and lonely, we try to hide our feelings by watching porn and masturbating. It gives us a moment of joy but leaves us with even more sadness and loneliness. That’s why you are advised to face your negative emotions instead of trying to dumb them down.

Going out and socializing is a great way to combat negative emotions. Since you can’t meet your friends and loved ones, you must be in touch with them and talk to them regularly on the phone.

If you live with your parents, talk to then and share your feelings with them.

3) Limit Your Time on the Internet

Spending too much time on the internet and surfing mindlessly on social media is a sure-shot way to relapse.

During normal times, you might not have enough time to mindlessly surf on the internet but during the lockdown, you’ve got a lot of time to kill.

Whenever we are free and have nothing to do, we tend to go on the internet and surf without purpose. You must be careful about how much time you spend on the internet and what content you consume.

The internet, especially social media is designed to keep our attention for a long period of time and it is made in a way to keep us hooked.

Set a limit to the time you spend on the internet. Ideally, you should be spending 2-3 hours maximum on the internet for non-work-related purposes.

Be extra cautious about social media, especially Instagram. Guys are often cautious about not going on porn sites. They often try to satisfy their urges by looking at hot models pictures on Instagram. It is this habit of looking at hot pics on Instagram that makes them relapse.

Start considering looking at hot pics as a relapse. If you don’t use social media for business or work purposes, you should quit it.

4) Build/Develop a Hobby

Being trapped in your house with nothing to do is a recipe for disaster. It’s neither good for your mental health nor your NoFap streak.

Being in lockdown is a golden opportunity to learn a new skill or build a new habit. You have no shortage of time, you just need a strong desire to learn something new.

There are thousands of courses and tutorials available on the internet which you can choose from and develop a new craft.

Websites like Skillshare and Udemy have hundreds of courses available ranging from painting, photography, business, music, designing and many others. You can choose any course and even start earning a passive income.

5) Create a Daily Routine

Before the lockdown, you probably had a routine. It is easy to follow NoFap when you have a routine.

You must have a fixed time of waking up, going to sleep, surfing the internet, eating, working, and everything else. Plan your day the previous night so you know what you’re gonna be doing at any given time of the day.

If you don’t have a routine and just do whatever you feel like doing, you are most likely to get a lot less done.
