Masculinity is what defines men. It is something that differentiates men from women. Every man wants to be masculine.
But, what exactly is masculinity, and how to become more masculine? In this article, we’re gonna discuss exactly that.
What is Masculinity?
The classic definition of masculinity is that it is a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles associated with men. But, what are those attributes, behaviors, and roles?
Traits/attributes traditionally viewed as masculine include strength, courage, independence, leadership, and assertiveness. We can say that if a man possesses these traits then he is masculine.
Masculinity can also be associated with “a man’s responsibility to provide for, protect, and defend his family“.
How to Be More Masculine?
Now that you’ve understood what are the traits that make you masculine, the question now is how do you develop those traits and become more masculine.
Do these 9 things to become more masculine:-
1. Build a Good Physique
Having a strong and fit body is the main characteristic of a masculine man.
You don’t need to have six-pack abs or 20-inch biceps to come across as masculine, but you need to have a strong and fit body.
Having a good physique not only commands respect from others but also gives you confidence. There’s a huge difference in how you feel when you have 30% body fat vs when you have 15% body fat.
When you feel good about your body, you’re more likely to face difficulties with courage rather than running away from your problems.
Having a strong body makes you feel more masculine and helps you face your problems courageously. Being courageous is definitely a sign of masculinity.
If you’re not satisfied with your body and how you look and feel about your body, start working on it. Start going to the gym regularly and put only high-quality foods inside your body.

2. Have a Strong Body Language
Having strong body language is a sign of masculinity.
You can tell how confident a person is by looking at his body language. Your body language should radiate confidence and dominance.
Here are some tips to have strong body language:-
a) Sit Straight With Your Legs Spread Open And Take Your Space.
Whenever you sit somewhere, sit straight with your legs and shoulders open. Have an open posture always.
Don’t keep your legs closed or keep them on top of each other. Having an open posture shows openness and confidence while having a closed posture shows anxiety and nervousness.
b) Have a Strong Handshake
A strong handshake shows dominance and confidence.
Whenever you do a handshake with someone, grip the other’s person hand firmly, make eye contact, and smile.
A good firm handshake is a universal sign of strength and assuredness which is why everyone should have one.
c) Maintain Eye Contact While Talking to Someone
Always look people in the eye when you’re talking to them. It not only shows that you’re a confident person but also shows that you’re a good listener.
Not making eye contact while talking to someone shows that you’re anxious and nervous.
Hold eye contact for about four to five seconds at a time, or about as much time as it takes you to register the color of their eyes. When you break eye contact, glance to the side before resuming your gaze.
If you face difficulties maintaining eye contact with people, check out this article about how to overcome eye contact anxiety.
3. Say What’s in Your Mind
It is a trait of a masculine man to say whatever is in his mind.
Masculinity is about being direct whereas femininity is about being subtle in expressing thoughts.
A masculine man always says what’s in his mind even if it offends some people. This doesn’t mean, however, that he says offensive things intentionally.
Start saying what’s in your mind without caring what other people will think about you.
4. Dress Nicely
Taking care of yourself and dressing nicely is a masculine trait.
Some people think that being masculine means being rough and not caring about your appearance. This is far from the truth.
Dressing nicely can make you come across as more masculine than you really are. You should start dressing in a masculine way.
Different cultures around the world have different standards about masculine dressing. Find out what’s considered masculine dressing in your culture and start dressing that way.
Wearing a watch, rolling your sleeves to show forearms, having a well-groomed beard, wearing neutral colors, are the things you can do to look more masculine.

5. Have Goals
A masculine man is always driven and focused in life.
Many of the world’s greatest discoveries have come from the masculine mind. Conquerors, adventurers, scientists, philosophers, inventors… all had a deep desire to “push the envelope” and create new things that make the world a better place.
A man without a goal is like a dead fish floating in the sea. There’s nothing sexier than a man on a mission.
If you don’t have goals in your life right now, set some and start working on them every single day.
It could be anything from building a good physique, learning a new skill, starting your own business, or inventing something new, etc.
6. Be Assertive
Being assertive is the no.1 trait of a masculine man.
Being assertive means finding the right balance between passivity (not assertive enough) and aggression (angry or hostile behavior). It means having a strong sense of yourself and your value, and acknowledging that you deserve to get what you want.
Assertiveness can help you express yourself effectively and stand up for your point of view, while also respecting the rights and beliefs of others. Being assertive can also help boost your self-esteem and earn others’ respect.
Being assertive is about respecting others and commanding respect from them.
7. Don’t Be Afraid of Confrontations
Masculine men are not afraid of confrontations.
This doesn’t mean that they are always looking for a confrontation or an argument with someone. This means that they always stand up for themselves even if that means confronting someone.
If someone disrespects you or does something that affects you negatively, don’t let it go. Confront that person and resolve the matter. Don’t let someone disrespect you and get away with it.
8. Don’t Watch Porn or Jerk Off
Masculine men don’t watch porn or jerk off.
Watching porn and jerking off is the most emasculated thing you can do. Masculine men don’t watch other people having sex and please themselves. That’s what porn is, watching other people having sex and pleasing yourself.
You don’t watch other people eating when you’re hungry, you go and eat something for yourself. Similarly, why watch other people having sex when you’re horny? Go out, meet women and have sex with real women.
Not to mention watching porn and masturbating have a lot of harmful side-effects. To know about those side-effects, check out my THIS ARTICLE.
Watching porn makes you see women as sex objects and set unrealistic expectations from sex and women.
Conserve your sexual energy and learn to transmute that sexual energy into achieving your life goals. Sexual energy is one of the most powerful forms of energy out there.
9. Develop Manly Hobbies
Masculine men have manly hobbies.
What you do is what you become. Develop manly hobbies like mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, skateboarding, swimming, etc.
Spend time in nature and develop physically demanding hobbies. These hobbies will develop your masculinity and make you tough physically and mentally.
Masculine men are tough both physically and mentally. Having manly hobbies will make you tough.
