Living a NoFap lifestyle means not watching porn and not masturbating.

If you’re reading this article, you probably already know about nofap and its amazing benefits. If you don’t, check out my detailed article on the amazing benefits of nofap by clicking here.

NoFap Tips

I’ve been practicing the nofap lifestyle for the past 4 years. Here are some of my tips that are guaranteed to help you if you implement them in your life.

1. Exercise Daily

This is my single biggest advice. If you can take only one thing from this article, take this advice.

In my past 4 years of practicing the nofap lifestyle, I’ve realized that you can’t make nofap your lifestyle unless you incorporate exercise in your life.

Sure, you may complete the 30-days nofap challenge without exercising but you can’t make it your lifestyle. If you don’t exercise, the urges will become too much to handle.

Your semen contains a lot of energy and when you don’t blow your load, you’re preserving all that energy. Urges are nothing but built-up sexual energy, and exercising is the best way to transmute that sexual energy into something productive.

Make a habit of exercising regularly. It could be going to the gym and lifting weights or going for a run or working out at home. Whatever you choose, you have to stick with it and do it regularly.

2. Meditate Daily

Meditation is also another great way to transmute that sexual energy into something productive. It also helps in controlling urges.

When you meditate daily, you’ll realize that you’re able to control horny thoughts easily and you’ll also be calm and cool-minded.

Make a habit of meditating daily, even if it’s only for 5 minutes. You’ll immediately feel calmer after your meditation session.

Keep in mind that meditation may feel like a difficult task in the beginning. You might not be able to control your thoughts and random thoughts will keep coming to your mind. Don’t strive to be perfect from day one, just stick with it and it’ll become easier with time.

3. Keep Yourself Busy

This is another great way to stop you from relapsing.

Urges hit when we don’t have anything to do, and our mind goes towards porn and masturbation when we don’t have anything to do and are just looking to kill time.

The way to overcome this is to keep yourself busy most of the time. This becomes more important during the initial days of your nofap because urges will be the strongest during that time.

Read a book, practice your hobbies, build a new hobby, learn a new skill, go out and socialize, do whatever you need to do to keep yourself busy.

When your mind is focused on something else, there is minimal chances of you getting an urge.

4. Stop Seeing Relapses as Failures

This tip will help you in making nofap your lifestyle.

Stop seeing relapses as failures and start seeing them as learning opportunities. Whenever you relapse, ask yourself what was the reason behind your relapse, what was the thing or what were the things that made you relapse, and which circumstances lead you to relapse. Analyze the reason behind that relapse and eliminate that reason. Make sure you don’t relapse because of the same reason twice.

Understand that relapses are inevitable on the nofap lifestyle. The best thing you can do is learn from them and make sure that you don’t relapse because of the same reason twice.

If you realize that you relapsed because of the urges you got from mindlessly scrolling on social media, then limit your use of social media and unfollow all the pages/people on social media that trigger your urges. If you realize that you relapsed because you were feeling lonely, then start going out more and start socializing more.

If you find out that you tend to relapse during the nighttime when you are alone, then make a habit of not being alone during the nighttime. Go sit with your family members or go to your friend’s house.

Start noticing your triggers that make you relapse and start eliminating those triggers one by one.

5. Stop Treating NoFap as a Challenge

Stop treating nofap as a challenge and start treating it as a lifestyle.

It’s fine to treat it as a challenge when you’re just getting started and you’re not sure whether this lifestyle is for you or not and you want to first try this lifestyle for a few days. You can do a 30-day nofap challenge to see whether or not you like this lifestyle. If you experience the benefits and liked doing nofap, then make it your lifestyle.

Keep in mind that it’s difficult to get to 30 days of nofap. You might need to try several times to get to 30 days, and when you get to 30 days, you would’ve experienced the benefits and will know whether you want to continue or not.

Treating nofap as a lifestyle means not seeing relapses as failures and accepting that relapses are part of the nofap lifestyle. The important thing is to learn from your relapses and getting back on track immediately after a relapse.

It’s easy to go into ‘binge mode‘ after a relapse. Binge mode means relapsing multiple times a day every day for few days in a row. The urges will be the strongest after a relapse and you’ll need the discipline to get back on track.

6. Stop Seeing NoFap as a Magic Cure

It’s important to set realistic expectations from nofap so you don’t get disappointed.

NoFap is not a magic cure that’ll solve all your life’s problems. It’s just a tool to improve yourself and reverse the damage done by porn and masturbation.

There’s a quote that explains this point very well, “NoFap is not the road to heaven but it’s the road out of hell“. NoFap will take you out of the hell that porn and masturbation put you into. Depression, Anxiety, brain fog are just some of the many harmful side effects of excessive porn and masturbation. To know about all the harmful side effects, check out my detailed article on the topic by clicking here.

NoFap will reverse all the damage done by porn and masturbation. You’ll be more confident, you’d be more willing to socialize, brain fog will disappear and you’ll start enjoying little things in life.

This post from the NoFap subreddit, r/nofap explains this point very well.

If you treat nofap as a magic cure and think that it’ll solve all your life’s problems then you will be disappointed and will probably quit this lifestyle.

7. Be Extra Careful After a Relapse

As I’ve already said that the urges will be the strongest after a relapse and it’s easy to go into binge mode after a relapse. It’s important to be careful after a relapse and make sure you don’t go into binge mode.

What I usually do is do a dopamine detox after a relapse. I give up social media, music, tasty food and everything pleasurable. I hit the gym daily, read books and keep myself as busy as possible for the next few days after a relapse.

The 3-4 days after a relapse is crucial. You’re more likely to relapse during this period and if you don’t relapse during this period, you’ll be successfully back on track.

8. Use Social Media Wisely

The single biggest reason behind relapse is mindlessly scrolling on social media.

A lot of content on social media is very triggering. People scroll on social media thinking that it is harmless, then they come across something provocative or triggering like half-naked girls or girls shaking their assess. It triggers them and they end up relapsing.

It’s better if you give up social media completely for the first 2 weeks of your nofap journey and after that, you can use it in limit.

Unfollow all the pages/people on social media that may trigger your urges. Don’t follow any actresses, models, or half-naked girls. Only follow people you know and pages which provide value.

Don’t use social media during the nighttime. Laying in bed at night and scrolling through social media can easily trigger your urges.

9. Don’t Peek or Edge

Although peeking and edging are not officially considered relapse, but it’s better if you start considering them as relapse.

Peeking means looking at hot pictures/videos when you’re horny to satisfy your urges, and edging means to stroke your dick for pleasure and stopping just before ejaculating. Peeking and edging will almost always make you relapse.

To know more about edging and why you need to stop it, check out my detailed article on the topic by clicking here.

When the urges hit you, start doing push-ups or take a cold shower or start doing deep breathing but never peek or edge.

10. Socialize More

socializing is the best way to combat urges along with exercising and meditating.

Urges mostly hit you when you’re alone. Socializing will not only help you combat urges but it’ll also cheer up your mood and when you’re in a happy mood you’re less likely to relapse.

Go out with your friends, talk to your family members, go to a park and talk to people, or plan a trip with your friends. The more you socialize, the easier the nofap lifestyle will become.
