Do Wet Dreams Count as a Relapse on NoFap? Explained

Do wet dreams count as a relapse? This is a question that many fapstronauts(people who follow a nofap lifestyle) wonder about.

No, wet dreams DOES NOT count as a relapse. They are completely natural. Having a wet dream is your body’s way to get rid of excess semen in your body.

Hope you got your answer. Now let’s try to understand wet dreams in more detail.

Why Do Wet Dreams Happen?

wet dreams on nofap

As I’ve said earlier, having a wet dream is your body’s way to get rid of excess semen from your body.

Semen is being built inside your body all the time from the nutrients you consume through food. When that semen gets up to a certain level, the body discharges the excess of it so it can keep building new semen.

Wet dreams are actually a sign of recovery on nofap. It means you’re giving your body enough time so it can build the semen to the point that it needs to discharge the extra.

When you masturbate regularly, you’re not giving enough time for your body to build semen as much as it wants and you’re forcing your body to deplete your semen level. You’re wasting your semen through sperm by ejaculating.

Do Wet Dreams Drain Energy?

This is also a question that many fapstronauts wonder about.

Since high energy and more motivation are two of the many benefits of nofap, they worry that wet dream will drain their energy.

The answer is, some people do feel a little dip in energy after a wet dream and some don’t.

But that lack of energy is only temporary and they’ll start feeling energetic like before in 1-2 days at most.

I asked a question on my Instagram(@the_fapstronaut) the same question. Look at the result.

do wet dreams drain energy

59% of people said that they feel a dip in energy after a wet dream and 41% said they don’t.

Whether you’re in the 59% of people or the 41%, there is nothing to worry about. They both are common.

If you’re in the 41% of people, you can stop worrying about wet dreams. If you’re in the 59% of people, there is nothing to worry about either, because that dip in energy is only temporary.

How Many Times Can You Have Wet Dreams?

There is no fixed answer to that. It depends on the individual. Some people have wet dreams 1-3 times a month, some 3-5 times a month, while some 5-7 times a month. For most people wet dreams happen completely randomly with no fixed frequency.

I did a poll on my Instagram asking people how many wet dreams do they get in a month. Let’s look at the result.

How often people have wet dreams

32% of people said they get wet dreams 1-3 times in a month, 11% said 3-5 times, 8% said 5-7 times and 47% said it’s not fixed.

As you can see, for the majority of people it’s not fixed. Some months they may get 1, 2, or 3 wet dreams. Some months they may get 6-7 wet dreams while in some months, they might not get any wet dreams.

This is what happens with me too. Sometimes I may get 3 wet dreams in a week and not get any for the next 30 days. It’s completely random.

Whether you get wet dreams a fixed no. of times or not, both are completely fine scenarios.

It’s better not to worry about the frequency of wet dreams and let them happen whenever your body wants them to happen.

Does Being on NoFap Causes More Wet Dreams?

Since you are not ejaculating and depleting your body of semen, ideally it should happen more when you’re on nofap as compared to not being on nofap.

But for some people, semen can build up faster than others. So, they may still experience frequent wet dreams even though they’re not on nofap.

While for some people it may take more time to build semen, so they only experience wet dreams when they are on nofap.

I asked people on my Instagram(@the_fapstronaut) do they get more wet dreams while being on nofap as compared to not being on nofap. Let’s look at the result.

does being on nofap causes more wet dreams

77% of people said they get more wet dreams on nofap as compared to not being on nofap and 23% said they don’t.

Both the scenarios are fine. You may or may not experience frequent wet dreams on nofap.

How to Stop Having Wet Dreams?

I’ve said before that wet dreams are completely natural. They don’t break your nofap streak and even if they drain your energy, it’s only temporary.

Unless you don’t get wet dreams very often(every day or more than 4 times a week every week), you shouldn’t try to reduce its frequency.

If you do get wet dreams very often, there are some natural ways to reduce their frequency.

1. Meditate before going to the bed

a man meditating

Meditating before going to bed is an excellent way to minimize the chances of dreaming about sex and getting a wet dream.

If you dream about sexual stuff, you’re more likely to get a wet dream.

Make a habit of meditating at least 10 minutes before going to the bed.

2. Fix Your Diet

There are some foods that can cause more nocturnal emissions/wet dreams/nightfall.

Meat, onion, garlic, and spicy food may sometimes increase the frequency of wet dreams. So try to avoid these foods.

The above-mentioned methods will not stop wet dreams completely, but they will help you in reducing their frequency if you get them very often.

Conclusion

Wet Dreams DO NOT break your nofap streak. They don’t count as a relapse.

Wet dreams are completely natural. You should not worry about them.

Having a wet dream is your body’s way to release the excess semen out of your body.

Some people get wet dreams more often than others.
